Although we have had cattle since the early 1990's our Dexter Cow journey started in 2021 when I read an article about this unique breed of cattle that didn't leave a huge physical footprint on your farm. It said Dexter cows were a dual purpose cattle breed that offers awesome beef and milk. We sold the cows we had and our first Dexters arrived in 2021. We fell in love with the Dexter Cattle Breed! Everything I read was true and so much more. They were so personable.I had thought at some point I would like to own a milk a cow. I had no idea that within the first cows we bought was a cow that was trained for hand milking. So my milking a cow journey began along with all the goodness it provides. Milk, ice cream, cheese, popsicle, yogurt and pudding to name a few. In 2023 we did our first home butcher and boy was the meat as good as we they said!.
Here at Trimbull Farm through research and great mentorship we began the path of regenerative farming along with rotational grazing, We are focused on improving land health, building soil fertility, growing our own food to create a more resilient, self sufficient lifestyle. In 2022 The first Homesteaders Of America was attended and we have attended several more since. We are members of the American Dexter Cattle Association, the Pure Bred Dexter Association.,Homesteaders of America and lifetime members of School of Traditional Skills. We feel continuing education is very important. In 2024 we started running the Neogen Beef panel on all our cows. This allows us to see what kind of material, milk, satiability, birthweight and beef traits our cattle have so we can produce a healthy quality dexter cow! This is what we here at Trimbull Farm strive for!
Along with Dexter cattle we offer farm fresh eggs and TAMUK rabbits.
